Madonna (Leonardo da Vinci)

Madonna (Leonardo da Vinci)
One-of-a-kind bead embroidery artwork, 2024

This work is a bead-embroidered interpretation of Leonardo da Vinci’s Madonna Litta, one of the most enduring images of motherhood in Renaissance art.

The composition is recreated through meticulous hand embroidery using thousands of premium Czech seed beads. The luminous surface of the beads transforms the familiar image: changing light reveals subtle shifts in colour, texture and reflection, giving the work a distinctive material presence.

The artwork continues a historical dialogue between traditional sacred imagery and contemporary craftsmanship, translating a Renaissance composition into the language of bead embroidery.
