Madonna and Child in the Garden

Madonna and Child in the Garden explores the enduring image of motherhood through the intimacy of a quiet moment between mother and child. The traditional devotional subject is translated into bead embroidery, where thousands of individual elements build the image through colour, light and texture.

The reflective surface of the beads changes subtly with the viewer’s position and surrounding light, giving the work a living, shifting presence that cannot be fully conveyed through photography.

Created entirely by hand, the artwork brings together the visual language of sacred imagery and the material precision of contemporary beadwork.
